Look beyond a reassuring word

FDA explains the limits of hypoallergenic claims and cautions that label terms alone do not answer every allergy question. A known restriction should be checked against the actual formula with appropriate professional guidance.

Do not confuse product relatives

The Neutrogena US page we checked is explicitly Water Gel with Signature Fragrance and lists fragrance. A different Hydro Boost product can have different wording and ingredients. We do not call that named gel fragrance-free because another item in the line is.

Keep personal reactions out of a universal ranking

A formula may work differently for different people. We have not performed wear testing or diagnosed reactions. Stop relying on a buying guide when a skin concern requires healthcare advice.

Before you decide

  • Read full line name
  • Check fragrance wording and ingredients
  • Avoid universal tolerance promises
